Game #1 (Round Robin) - Opening Day and with some last minute changes to the Leaf Ray roster, we didn't know what to expect going into the game against Scott's Tots (0-0-0). The game started a little slow with a 4-1 lead going into the 2nd half. Leaf Ray picked it up quickly and scored 5 goals in the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half ending the game early in a 9-1 mercy.
Standings - 1-0-0 - Leaf Ray finished the first round of games as the #1 out of 40 teams. The top two teams were both +8 with 1 goal against but Leaf Ray has the Penalty Minute tie breaker with 0 minutes over Trifecta Kraken from Florida.
Game #2 (Round Robin) - Next match up was against the Thrashers (1-0-0) from New Jersey. Both team came into the game off day 1 wins. Leaf Ray drew first blood about half way through the first period when Landon Kooker put one in the back of the net. The Thrashers tied the game up a couple of minutes into the 2nd period. Leaf Ray's JJ Santagata got the game winning goal on the power play with about 5 minutes left in the game. Thrashers tried a late game push to tie the game. Goalie Blaine Barker came up with some big saves but ultimately Grant Burback had the game winning save clearing the put out of the air with seconds left in the game. Leaf Ray took this one 2-1.
Standings - 2-0-0 - Leaf Ray finished the second round of games as the #2 out of 40 teams. Trifecta Kraken from Florida took the 1 seed away from Leaf Ray with a +14 differential compared to Leaf Rays +9.
Game #3 (Round Robin) - Next match up was against Tour Country Puck (0-2-0) from St Louis. Leaf Ray came out strong moving the puck well and knowing that we needed a big win to retake that top spot. The game ended 3 minutes into the 2nd half with a 9-1 mercy.
Standings - 3-0-0 - Leaf Ray finished the third round of games as the #1 out of 40 teams. Trifecta Kraken from Florida lost dropping them in the standing and moving Naples Kaos up to the 2nd seed with a +10 differential compared to Leaf Ray's +17 differential.
Game #4 (Round Robin) - Final Round Robin match up was against the Dirty Flamingos (2-0-1) from Florida. It was a back and forth game which came down to who was going to make the most mistakes. Unfortunately it was Leaf Ray in this 4-6 loss.
Standings - 3-1-0 - Leaf Ray finished the round robin games as the #8 out of 40 teams earning a 1st round playoff bye.
Game #5 (Playoffs Round 2) - Leaf Ray got a bye past the first round to play Pucky Charms (3-1-0) from Florida. The team came out with a vengeance wanting to bounce back from that game 4 loss and it showed. Leaf Ray led 6-0 at half and mercied the team 9-1 just 3 minutes into the 2nd half.
Standings - 4-1-0 - Leaf Ray moves on to the top 8 and the quarter finals in the playoffs.
Game #6 (Playoffs Round 3) - 8th seed Labeda Leaf Ray got matched up against 6th seed Tour Roadrunners. The game was very close being 1-1 at half time and 2-2 going into overtime. Roadrunners used their long bench (11 players) and wore down the short bench (7 players) of Leaf Ray. Roadrunners won 2-3 in overtime.
Standings - 4-1-1 - Leaf Ray finished the tournament in 5th place out of 40 teams.
